The beta... what a joke!  I get the beta and everything, then I go to download it, and they say, sorry but your phone is not an android phone.  I'm like huh!? >:( >:( ???  That dumbass website is telling me that the Samsung Intercept isn't an android phone.  F**k the beta is what i say for now.  ;D I got that backdoor version that is better on my screen and it works.  lol 8)

You need to have mobile view checked in your browser.  That way you won't get the "not an android phone" error.

6  Samsung Intercept Software / Android 2.1 Discussions / Re: HTC EVO 4G ROM on Intercept? on: May 22, 2010, 11:57:18 am
The Intercept will never have 4g.  Hardware, not software.
7  Samsung Intercept Software / Apps, apps, apps / Re: shut off shutter sound on camera? on: May 21, 2010, 09:18:38 am
Here's the easy workaround.  Get a silent toggle widget.  Put it and a camera shortcut side by side on one of your homescreens.  Hit the silent toggle, then hit the camera shortcut.
8  Samsung Intercept Software / General Android discussions / Re: Android 2.2 on: May 21, 2010, 08:23:40 am
I wouldn't hold my breath.  If we do get 2.2, it will probably be through outside developers.

10  Samsung Intercept Community & News / Other Cell Phones / Re: Intercept or 4g Evo? on: May 20, 2010, 11:01:20 am
I'm so torn, I've been doing research on the samsung intercept and the evo and I really like both, but now I hear there is a samsung intercept 2 coming out in july that will have touchwiz 3.0 on it.  ???

Decisions, decisions..... hahaha.

Go here and follow the instructions, download is at the bottom of the page. There is a PDF instruction file to follow.

Thanks to GST Racer for the below :
1. download the upgrade, either the "leaked" official version, or from sprint when it becomes available.

2. BACKUP EVERYTHING.  Its good to back-up, regardless of what youre doing.  I use a program called MyBackup, which saves everything, apps, contacts, etc, to your SDcard.  Then I plug the phone in the computer, let the windows explorer window open up, highlight EVERYTHING, and copy it to a folder on the computer.

3.  Take the 2.1 file you downloaded, as far as I know the leaked version has a ".md5" on the end of it.  Right-click, rename, and erase that ".md5", so the last letters on the file are ".tar".  It should then turn into a zip file, aka, the little WinZip icon, or whatever your zipping utility is.

4.  Go to your harddrive, Program Files/Samsung Electronics/Models/Binary, and move the file thats already in there to some other folder on your harddrive, thus saving it for future use if needed.  I have a folder on my C:/ labled "Phone", and I keep all my downloaded apps, back-ups, a list of contacts, web pages, old roms, old OS 1.5, etc.

5.  Place your newly downloaded 2.1 Upgrade file in this folder.  Do NOT unzip it, put the zip file itself in the folder.

6.  Open the Sprint Update Utility, and follow the directions for updating.  Remember to boot your phone into Download Mode, by shutting it off and then holding volume down+camera+end, in that order.  a black screen with a picture of a...floppy disc(i guess) should appear.  In the picture of the Phone and computer, make sure the arrows are going from the phone to the computer.  I guess you cant hit next unless it is connected, so no worries.

7.  When you get to the "Start Update" page, make sure it says "Ready" in the lower left corner, and in the lower right corner is says "Com Connected".  Press start.

8.  For me, the upgrade took about 3 minutes.  But, the first time I started it, nothing happened.  I clicked start, nothing happened, and in the lower left corner was a bunch of question marks. This is probably ok, no need to worry.  I just unplugged the usb cable, removed/replaced the battery, and started over.  The second time, worked like a charm.

9.  After everything is updated your phone should start back up.  Sync your account, and then download MyBackup from the marketplace.  Then restore the Applications and then the Contacts.

10.  That should be it, after that its just a matter of tweaking everything to how you want it.

sorry to jack your thread a bit Z:
if yall are having an issue with the old updater and the new one i have uploaded the .tar by itself which works in the old swupdater program , so there is no need to install the new one. Just drop the .md5 off the end before you place it in the binary folder.
