Title: I rooted my Samsung Intercept, and it works... With one major flaw...
Post by: Neodynamics on October 17, 2010, 09:04:23 am
I decided that I would try rooting my Virgin mobile "Samsung Intercept" with the Little Kernel 2.1 method. Everything went successfully, and my phone was rooted. However, anytime I try playing any media, such as games, videos, etc. It will play the audio, but the volume is hard to hear because it is overridden by this god awful noise.

God awful noise (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GR_gTBWswg#)

So, apparently this is unrootable... Any ideas on whether this noise is some kind of physical hardware issue, or could it just be because of this Little Kernel 2.1 method...? Any suggestions on what I can do? Everything else is working fine, but I really wanna play my SNES games and watch videos.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

My phone is coming on tuesday, I've got these two links bookmarked for rooting. I've heard people telling me they work, but (obviously) haven't tried them yet:

I tired the method listed on page 4, and from my experience, I wouldn't recommend it unless you want to lose wifi, and have that noise play. That was just me though, I don't know how it was for everyone else. I think I'm done trying to root it until I know a reliable root comes out, I don't want to go through that mess again... Let me know how the method on page 3 of the link you provided works out for you.

Also, I have fixed my problem, just so people know. I just flashed it with the stock kernel and it seems to be working properly now.

Try these 2.  After I used the llittle kernel I was having the same problems with sound and wifi then I tried both of these and they seemed to work for me.

I'm using http://www.necrosan.com/squealjoyv1.5.zip (http://www.necrosan.com/squealjoyv1.5.zip)
Inxane's kernal gave me a large audio delay.

After 2 days of trying I used this guide. I just got it to work. I had too run it a few times but it eventually rooted sucessfully. Just read all the replies and my phone is running froyo 2.2.2 hope this helps. http://forum.sdx-developers.com/index.php?topic=9943.0 (http://forum.sdx-developers.com/index.php?topic=9943.0)
